1800's photos with threadless

Let's see your threadless-era photographs. I'll start out with a few I have. Here's one of St. Thomas, Ontario from 1875 - looking East down Talbot Street, from Stanley Street. There is a very close-up view of a late threadless-era pole with what looks like either a 740 style or a short 742 on top, a definite 742 on the right side pin and possibly an EC&M on the left lower side pin.

Next is Richmond Street, London, 1860. I see 4 poles and each has 7 threadless CD 740's on them

Here's another - this was for sale on Ebay a few years back and I grabbed a copy of the listing. There was no location information or year but I would say 1870's at the latest. You can see the name of a street and a Montreal Telegraph sign (these are very rare, I've not heard of one surviving, I think they were made of wood so likely none or very few survived) You can also see clearly a nice 742 on the closest pole and 3 more threadless on the pole in the back.

Dang, somebody was picking the glass off the poles back in the day!

Awesome photos Chris, I have had a really tough time finding any vintage photos from the threadless era with recognizable glass.

Might be Dundas Street in Napanee. The sign across the street looks like it says 'F W Smith'...

Nice detective work Cliff! I think you probably nailed it. I had always assumed what looks like a street sign that you can see partially was for a street named "Cashsto***" street, but I can't find anything about that in the directory which I ended up finding online at archive.org. I've searched for this partial street name before but came up empty, so now I"m thinking it's a sign for something else. Going from memory this was a canadian Ebay listing, but I didn't make a note of the listing itself. I'd say we can be 99% sure this is Napanee, Ontario.

Oh wow! 7 sidebrackets of 740 threadless on a single pole. Ive never seen that kind of line construction before from any era, its amazing surreal stuff. Thanks for sharing...

The corner of Sparks and Elgin in Ottawa, 1874 or 1875. I think I see 742's and 740's on the pole in the foreground. Lots of glass on that one pole for sure!
