Must have cleaned hundreds of insulators in this way but never had this happen til tonite. Too bad, this had a really neat amber inclusion.

oh,that sucks!, i used to soak my climbed for 145 GTP Tel co pinky purples in lukewarm water,they would pop on my shelf,totally fracture thru the body of the insulator,no other 145s would do this,just the pretty ones...,sorry about your injury..

Had that happen to a purple swirled steel blue CanPac [170] on the drive back home. It was sitting in the cup holder, then suddenly made a popping sound

There was a thread awhile ago on another forum about GNW 145's popping as well.

I think it was the thick glass,maybe there is more thermal shock in a bigger piece of glass,this doesnt explain why only my purple 145 gtps were prone to this! to wit: Bill Rosato of Pennsylvania (or was that Transylvania) reported the same thing in light purple 145 canadians,,,
