Insulators @ the Canada Science and Technology Museum

Here you can discuss any information or questions you have about insulators that don't seem to fit properly in the other sections of this forum. As well as any other type of insulator that doesn't have a place on this forum, such as radio strains and spools

virtualmuseum.ca now has a large number of pictures of insulators in the image gallery.

Go to the following link then type insulator into the search box:
http://www.museevirtuel-virtualmuseum.ca/Search.do?ig=on&lang=en

Don't be discouraged by the pictures of common insulators returned in the first few pages, there are actually a lot on nice insulators pictured if you keep going (threadless, canadian bostons, withycomes, etc.)

Here are few direct links to some of the better insulators.

Metal covered wood insulator:

High groove withycome:

Pony with an odd shaped dome:

Super milky pony:

Does anyone know if these insulators are on display at the museum?

Hi All:
Any time I've been through the museum there was just a Dominion 42 and a Baby Battleford on display. My family and I were through there this summer I think and the display had not changed since we were last there 5 - 6 years ago.

The Canadian Gov't just sold an older NN 143 MLOD and a cd 160 in it's assets disposal department. I'm really wondering how they came up with these 2 insulators ??

Too bad the pics aren't in color... saved 'em anyhow. Nice wood covered Wade, high groove withycombe, and weird 102... neat stuff!
