I also manage a Wordpress site. We were getting hundreds of fake sign up requests a day... Wordpress does not provide the "captcha" code for registration, so I suspect it's just getting pounded on by automatic bots... Luckily someone wrote a "captcha" add on that requires you to type in the code...

However, your site still gets pounded with these automated requests.

From some tracing information he seems to be from Kiev, Ukraine with his ISP as "Ukrainian mobile phone operator"

My guess is that he's not an insulator collector? ... anyone know him?

Ok, Thanks to Bill for looking into this. We have removed the username/password restriction, and of course spam requests are coming in already. All membership requests now require moderator approval before they can post. We now have additional moderators - myself, Craig and Lee in addition to Ricky.

They always did require approval ... otherwise this forum would be filled with spam! Otherwise you just register and send spam if approval is not needed.

Thanks for clarifying that Bill. Yesterday we had 6 bogus sign ups but one legitemate one so that's promising.

I wish I spent enough time on this site to volunteer my time... recently I just haven't seem to have the time to devote to anything related to this hobby. Although my interest has not faltered whatsoever, I am once again situated on northern Baffin Island for summer work. The internet is terrible at site, but the scenery is beautiful and the work is fantastic and right up my alley so I keep coming back. It would make being an admin difficult however, else I would sign up in a heartbeat.
When I get back this autumn I'll be posting some hunting stories!
