NECAN RB 102 Price Drop

Postby Chris Minicola » Wed Sep 07, 2011 4:37 pm

Does anyone have an idea why in the new price guide the RB NECAN 102's have dropped in price across the board. These are still very tough pieces to acquire and I seldom see them for sale. Did a cache of them turn up or something?

No idea. I gladly paid 2007 book price for the pair that I picked up last year (and I'm cheap :D ).

I didn't pick up the new guide yet, what's the new price on these?

Those are really tuff.John Rajpolt had a beat up one on his sales list for $125 i think.I havent found one yet in the past twenty years. Not a flashy piece but an important one. There are two different styles also.

These are really tough to get and you very rarely see them come up for sale. Tough tough pieces to get took ne forever to get. That and a sharp drip point montreal tough.

Aqua, Green Aqua and light blue went down to 75 - 100 from 100 - 125 in 2007
Ice Green went down to 125 - 150 from 150 - 175 in 2007

I would agree on these, they are very tough and I rarely see them come up for sale. I've been lucky enough to find 3 in 10 years, and I've bought 2 others. I've only ever seen one other Ice green besides the one that I have (you know who you are)

I think they were used in the general area of Peterborough as I've found them locally. If anything though I would think they should have gone up in value due to sheer rarity.

Hey,

Just to make everybody jealous here....

I picked up one of these in aqua, at a little antique shop on Monday this week, in VNM condition for the princely sum of $1 !!!!! :D

And yes, I did triple check the book to make sure that this is what I found.

There are still some gems to be found out there if you look in enough places.
Happy collecting,

Not the best picture but I happened to have this on my computer already from a display I put together for the 2007 Perth show.
The third row down on the right is an ice green and a green aqua:

This is the pair that I mentioned I picked up last year, the one on the left is the "other ice green" that Chris has seen:

Notice the odd dome profile on the one on the right, I've only seen one other like it, in the Springfield 2009 CD 102 display (and it has solid dome glass!):

An ice green was also shown in the Springfield 2009 CD 102 display:

I'd be interested in hearing how many ice greens and "odd domes" are out there.
