Today's Finds

Postby TedW » Sat Apr 10, 2010 5:38 pm

Went for a quick hunt in a spot I had scoped out earlier. Although all the chopped poles I'd visited before were stripped, a stretch of 3 seem to have been missed. Picked up a nice lt green thin print CANPAC, a displayable grape purple MLOD CANPAC and a piece of another, couple peach NE CAN 145s, a 145 Hemi Blue Hemingray and 5 Dominion 154s is a weird gingeraley lime colour. Interestingly, there were shards of porcelain CPR beehives everywhere, must have been at least 50 but nothing intact.

Nice to see a wild purple. I found one once just when I'd given up hope.
I acquired these from a small collection today. I was fortunate to cherry pick them.

1) grey CANPAC (170)
2) milky STANDARD (050)
3) light purple CANPAC (170)
4) ambered BROOKIE
5) McMICKING
6) green w/amber BROOKIE
7) lime CANPAC (Thin script) w/carbon halo
8) sage CANPAC (backwards C)
9) Ice green No. 2 CABLE

Also the 3 Aussie pieces.
Cheers and have a great weekend everybody!
D.

Sweet finds, both wild and collection wise.

Always great to hear when someone finds a "wild" purple, don't see that everyday.

Good stuff!!

Yeah, it was neat to find the purple. All these insulators were actually on chopped down poles, not on the ground. Just had to select which to unscrew, nothing easier.

Good finds, Ted. It certainly isn't easy to find intact purple insulators in the wild these days (unless you're Cliff), but you managed to find those ON a pole? Cool stuff. Keep up the good work!
All the best,

Yeah, I took all those pieces off their pins, albeit the pole itself had been chopped down previously. The purple is hacked up a bit in the rear, but displays nice, and I'm thinking a couple of those Dominions are sage/straw two tones. We'll see once they're out of the acid, I swore one had a peach dome and greeny skirt.
