Well the last train has passed and they have started taking up the tracks. This one is an old line originally strung with threadless back in the 1850's some time in the 1870's they replaced the threadless with MOD beehives many of which still remain on the poles. Near road crossings some newer Hemmingrays and Domininons creep in. Since the lines being removed and the poles are probably soon to be removed I set out today to salvage what I can before its gone. More picks to follow but here some of todays finds. Of course as per normal alot of the good stuff was broken. Namely a snowy Brookfield beehive in yellow green. I did however get one battery jar, a number of early beehives, and a brookfield signal with metal chunks in it.
One final Pic. This is the battery jar I found what a dog of a job hauling that thing complete out of the bush. Suppose I could have emptied it out but then I wanted to keep it in one piece for now.
This is the only pocelian I pulled today. Looks like it must have been made on either a friday or when the quality controll guys were on holiday. The glaze was chunky resulting in a rough appearance and the base must have been so flawed that they ground it down rather crudely. If I had not pulled it off the pole myself I would have been certain it was a recent modification.
Both of my fizzy Can-Pac's are sage green and are, infact the MLOD variants. I belelive these ones went up on the pole around 1870 or so when they took the threadless down. I have found quite a few of the MLOD but only a few which are anything "special". Here are some more pics taken today. First a Milky MOLD Can-Pac I found two of them like that that must have been made from the same glass batch. The other pics are me up one of the taller poles (around 20') I climed that pole because I saw some Hemi-21's up there. In the pic I have allready removed the Hemi's and am working on the 3 Can-Pac's
