2010 Insulators

The year is wrapping up and I thought id share my additions from this past year. This wasn't my best year for adding pieces (last year was by far), but it was still a respectable year for the collection. I didn't find much in the wild this year at all, that probably has to do with my lackluster efforts this past spring and fall. Next year I hope to turn it all around. All but one of these pieces was added locally, just how I like to get them if possible.

1. CD 126 NE Can in a greenish aqua with inclusion. This is the first I have seen in this colour. Color lineup as far as I can tell now is Virbant blue aqua, aqua, green aqua, light green, green and gray. I also heard from a 20+ year collector that there was once an olive colour kicking around, probably buried in an older collection. This one was purchased from a lady in New Brunswick who had a bunch of common glass and this one stand out. Condition is nothing to write home about, but displays mint.

2. CD 133 NE RB Can in aqua. This is my first RB 133 and it's a beaut. Big open bubble on the wire groove and extra glass on inside of skirt makes it lean. Purchased from a local antique shop.

3. CD 121 Diamond in Straw. I actually added a few of these this year, went from none to a few. 2 in the shorter mold, 1 in the taller mold. This one was purchased from a lady who had some bottles I went to check out.

4. CD 143 NE Can in light green. Not sure the index number on this one, I have 2 of them and they are both heavy and crude. This one was purchased from a flea market in NS.

5. CD 145 CREB in vibrant yellow green. Nice colour, can never leave these behind when I see them. Purchased from the same flea market/same dealer/same day

6. CD 102 NE Can MLOD in blue. See very few of these, but always grab them when they are around. Purchased from the same flea market/same dealer/same day

7. Elliot Threadless Hat. Got this one from a picker in New Brunswick, I knew he had it a year ago but had to wait for him to decide to part with it. My only threadless of the year but I was happy to grab it.

8. Keg style porcelain with CPR incuse on the dome. I think these are pretty tough to find, Dad and I found 2 of these at a flea market in New Brunswick, sold by 2 different dealers on the same day.

9. CD 113 Braille in purple. Got this one in a trade with a fellow collector in Alberta.

10. CD 143 NE RB Can in purple. One of my better finds of the year, I posted the story earlier in the year about finding 3 of these at once. Found in Nova Scotia from a guy who was looking after the estate of a retired linemen. Too bad I never got back to go through the thousands of insulators on the property, I am sure there were some other gems there.

11. CD 154 Dominions in various shades of amber. Probably added 10 or so of these this year, they are pretty findable in NS. If anyone ever needs an amber dominion or a quantity of them I am always willing to trade them.

12. And I finally got my phone up on the wall. After some fine craftsmanship by Dad in fixing up a nice old wide table board, I got it on the wall and got it set up the way I wanted.

If next year was as good as this one, I wont complain : ). I also added some other common pieces and made some good leads for the upcoming year.

Hope everyone had as much fun as I did this year, Happy Holidays

Jason

I wouldn't say the piece is two tone. But it is not just a royal purple. The other 2 I purchased were royal purple and this one was a lot lighter and you can see the purple swirling in the glass. There is some faint bluish to it I guess. Not sure what to call it. The CD126's are tough to come by anywhere I believe. I have only seen 1 offered for sale, and the price tag was out of my range.

Id also like to see some other peoples finds from this year Craig. Your post of this years finds was my inspiration.
